Are you a refugee in Kenya with a high school certificate, dreaming of a prosperous future in a high-income country? Malengo’s Kenya-Germany Vocational Training Program for Refugees is designed to equip you with the skills and opportunities to achieve just that!

This program prepares you for admission to vocational training in Germany, setting you on a path towards a fulfilling career.

What the Program Offers:

The program begins with one year of intensive German language training in Kenya, where you’ll reach B2 level. During this time, you’ll also apply for vocational training positions in Germany. If successful, you’ll then complete 1-3 years of vocational training in Germany in a field of your choice, such as Healthcare, STEM, Pedagogy, or Management. Upon completion, you’ll be qualified to apply for jobs in Germany.

Here’s what’s included:

• Intensive German language classes (up to B2 level) in Kenya, starting July 1st.
• Support with applying to vocational training programs in Germany.
• Assistance with student visa applications for Germany.
• A pre-departure orientation seminar to prepare you for life abroad.
• Help finding accommodation in Germany.
• Full financial support covering language classes (including accommodation and living expenses), application fees, visa fees, and travel costs (including your flight ticket).
• A dedicated network of mentors in both Kenya and Germany.
• Professional psychosocial and legal support if needed.
• Connections to a vibrant community of other scholars for social activities and friendship.

Financing Made Easy: Income Share Agreement (ISA)

Participation in this program is initially free of charge for you! The program is financed by an Income Share Agreement (ISA). This means you only contribute a share of your income back to Malengo for a limited time, once you’re earning a sufficiently high income after the program. If you don’t secure a high-paying job, you are exempt from payments. Full details of the ISA will be shared with successful applicants.

Are You Eligible?

You should apply if you meet the following criteria:

• You are between 18 and 25 years old as of June 1st, 2025.
• You are a registered refugee currently living in Kenya, with proof of registration and a UNHCR Refugee ID (including your Refugee Identification Number).
• You hold a high school certificate such as KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education), UACE, CSE, or the Ugandan UCE exam. Certificates from within the EAC are also accepted.
• You have not yet completed a vocational training program, diploma course, or Bachelor’s program.
